A specific variety of chalcedony produces the eye pleasing gem "fire agate" ... such containing flashes of brilliant "fire" somewhat similar to the fire found within precious opal. Chalcedony of all varieties was believed to be specific to ailments of the eye. This very hard gemstone is also able to dissipate evil humors of the eye.

AGATE
